A Storm has just occurred...Now What?

R. Graham Construction recommends…

  1. Determine whether or not it is safe to exit your home or business, then cautiously exit the property, it is possible that the main exit has been blocked by debris from the storm.
  2. Once you have exited the property, cautiously walk the parameter of the property to observe damages that may have occurred. WATCH FOR DOWN POWER LINES!!! If you observe a down power line IMMEDIATELY contact your service provider, DO NOT TOUCH OR ATTEMPT TO MOVE POWER LINES!!!
  3. Determine the extent of the damage, and then contact R. Graham Construction to help assist you with any emergency repairs.

How to tell if you have HAIL DAMAGE:

Many Michigan homeowners contact us about hail. To see if your home has been affected by hail, answer these questions:

  1. Can you see any loose or missing shingles?
  2. Do you have excessive amounts of granules at the base of your gutter downspouts?
  3. Are there dents or dings in metal roof awnings or metal penetrations such as a roof vent or gas exhaust vents from the furnace?

Insurance Claims Process - Filing a Claim

Filing a claim is the most important thing you can do to get your home back in order. You will need to know the name of your insurance company and your policy number. Report your property claim as quickly as possible, even if you don't have any more details. Be sure to have the date and location of the damage, name of the policy holder, address of the claim, and the policy mailing address ready when contacting your insurance company. Licensed contractors must adhere to all installation guidelines from the manufacturer and will typically do the roof installation the right way. At R.
